Can you believe May is over and done with already? This year is flying by. I’ve had an amazing month including a trip to New York with my boyfriend and seeing some of my favourites at Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds. Here’s a round up of my favourites from the month.
What I’ve been wearing on my face: very little(!)
Glossier’s new mascara and their cloud paints in the shade Dusk and/or Puff, sometimes I’ll push the boat out and wear a lil brow gel but, if I’m honest, that’s as fancy as it’s been this month really. Thanks to the appearance of the sun, a huge amount of new skincare purchased from Kiehl’s in NYC and my new BFF (the Isle of Paradise medium self tanning drops), my skin has been glowing away and kinda just doing it’s own thing. Plus it’s too damn hot for makeup.
Skincare wise, Glossier has come up trumps at the minute for me with their Solution and, because of the chemical exfoliating ingredients in it, I make sure to follow with a moisturiser that contains SPF; my favourite is Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream with SPF 30 – perfect.
On the bod, there’s been a whole lotta Bum Bum Cream (picked it up in Sephora and I am obsessed). Self tan wise, I’ve mainly been using the Utan & Tone After Dark Turbo Mousse. I tend to leave this on for about three/four hours and it’s still pretty dark! Another recent purchase is Chloé’s Nomade perfume (thank you, duty free) and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves Miss Dior or Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle as it seems to be a perfect cross between the two.
What I’ve been reading: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman
Well, I did it. This month I finally finished Gail Honeyman’s Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, only three months after I was originally meant to read it for book club. How do I feel about the book? I loved it and definitely think it lives up to the hype surrounding it. What’s next on my to-read list? Hopefully for this month, Little Fires Everywhere – Celeste Ng and, if I get the time, The Tattooist of Auschwitz – Heather Morris.
What I’ve been listening to: MTV Unplugged – Biffy Clyro
I am a huge fan of the band, and I love this album. So nice to hear some of my favourite songs done acoustically. ‘Mon the Biff.
What I’ve been getting up to: New York City and Slam Dunk Festival
Both of which where absolutely amazing, of course. I hit up NYC with my boyfriend for five nights and I have never had such a fabulous time in the city (or consumed so much food in such a short period of time). Slam Dunk festival was, as always, a great day/night although all that drinking did give me a two day hangover, totally worth it though. I wore the most amazing jumpsuit to Slam Dunk, too. Total nightmare with the festival portaloo situation but worth it to look/feel fly.
How I’ve been feeling: Overall, pretty good!
I’ve had very few ‘bad’ days this month, I struggled a little bit with the jet lag when I came home, but apart from that life has been kind to me during May.
Also, massive shout of to Nitrofurantoin for getting me through yet another water infection.
