There’s something strangely therapeutic about spilling out your daily makeup on the floor and taking stock of it. All these products work for me and, although I don’t use them all on a daily basis. These are the items I reach for the most out of my collection.
First up, skincare! My ultimate facial tanner – the Isle of Paradise Medium Self Tanning Drops. I mix 2-3 drops of this into my Glossier Priming Moisturiser every couple of days to give my skin the most beautiful golden glow. The green colour correcting element in these magical drops also help even out my skin tone – what a fab all round product! Another old favourite, the Glossier Balmdotcom – which I have in about four different varieties, but pictured is the Original. This is great for lips, cuticles, dry skin on elbows – you name it, it works. A newer addition to my makeup bag is the Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator. I picked this up back in May in the New York flagship store and I’ve been using it ever since. Perfect for applying on its own or mixing with moisturiser for an added glow factor.
Face products! I prime with my Glossier Moisturiser, and then either apply the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation with a damp Beauty Blender, or buff in some L’oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation with a Zoeva buffer brush. The CT foundation is light to medium coverage, that does offer some hydration but is still suitable for combination-faced babes like myself. L’oreal’s cushion foundation offers very sheer coverage, but is great for days when you want a lil summat summat without looking overly made up.
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is a stunning product, as far as makeup goes. Somehow, it manages to offer the perfect combination of perfecting/blurring the skin, yet adding the most amazing dewy, highlighted look simultaneously. My final Charlotte Tilbury product in my makeup bag is the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. When it comes to powders, I’m not that fussy – I flip flop between this and the Fenty one – but this is good for helping to hide pores and keeping my T-Zone matte for a good few hours.
For blush, my go to is always the Glossier Cloud Paint, pictured in shade Puff. This stuff reminds me of watercolour paintings. The gel, almost watery-like blush goes on to give a very natural flush that can be built up to your desired level really easily.
Bronzer, currently, is the L’oreal Back to Bronze. Similar to Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer, but quite a bit cheaper. Goes on nicely with a MAC Cosmetics 187 duo fibre brush! Hardest of all, and probably the thing that gets switched up the most is my highlighter. Currently in rotation is the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter Duo in the shade Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal. I tend to use the more muted shade for day time, and amp it up at night with the brighter shade.
Keeping it simple here, eyeliner is a simple, thin brown pencil from Clinique – I love their Skinny Sticks. Smudge this along the lash line, curl lashes with my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers and apply Glossier Lash Slick Mascara for day, and then top up with Benefit’s Bad Gal Bang for evening. Glossier’s Lash Slick is amazing, especially for lower lashes as it is very lengthening. Bad Gal Bang offers fantastic volume and is totally jet black.
Keeping it simple with eye shadow, which I very rarely wear unless I’m going ‘out-out’. I tend to just chuck in any of my four Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palettes which are all stunning – my favourite being Golden Goddess. Very flattering for blue eyes! Brows are slightly more important for me, and I fill mine in using the Iconic London Brow Cushion in shade Medium. Pretty quick and simple, I then top with Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Clear Brow Gel. This holds unruly hairs in place all day.
A nude, a gloss, a statement red – what else does a girl need? Gloss is the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, which I often wear over Urban Decay’s Uptight Lipstick. The red, again, is Fenty Beauty – this time their Stunna Lip Paint. Stunna offers fantastic staying power, especially when used in conjunction with NYX’s Kitten Heel Lip Liner. If I’m honest, most days I use use my Glossier Balmdotcom!
So that’s it! A look into my makeup bag and what I use on the reg. What are your favourites for daily use at the minute? Let me know in the comments below.
