Well, it’s officially September. Wow, 2018 is just flying by! August was a great month for me. Here’s my favourites from it!
What I’ve been wearing on my face: my face, but more … glowy?
Pictured: Glossier priming moisturiser. L’oreal Nude Magique cushion foundation, Chloe Nomade perfume. Benefit Cosmetics brow contour pro, Fenty gloss bomb, Fenty invisimatte powder blotting powder, Charlotte Tilbury beauty light wand highlighter, Charlotte Tilbury light wonder foundation, Charlotte Tilbury wonder glow.
August has been a bit of a scorcher (by the UK’s standards anyway…) so I’ve been embracing the ‘glow’. August’s makeup rotation seems to contain a lot of Charlotte Tilbury, which is no surprise as anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with her products; in fact my house is currently hovering over the ‘checkout’ button with my basket full of her new Pillow Talk collection. Here’s a little more of what I think about these products.
Shout out to Glossier’s priming moisturiser for being the G.O.A.T facial moisturiser, because it gets me through all seasons. Light enough on its own for use in summer (mixed with my beloved Isle of Paradise tanning drops *swoons*). Perfect for winter with a serum/oil too. Above all, my all time favourite, not just for August.
This is a newbie and a goodie. First of all, I’d just like to say how dubious I was about this product. It reminded me of something that lurked in the bottom of my pencil case at school – something which I do not tend to look for in a high-end beauty product. I’ve been religiously using my Iconic London brow cushion for months – which I still love, but found myself looking elsewhere (naughty). This, however, intrigued me.
While it is clunky and hideous, it works like a dream. Firstly, use the lighter colour for the front of brows. Follow this by using the darker colour on the arch/tail. Tidy up with the flesh colour pencil if needed and highlighter included to boot! Amazing product, I love it.
I’m not gonna lie, I bought this a year ago when it came out and never really used it up recently. Above all, I bought this because it says ‘easy’ on it, and that’s how I like my daily makeup. This ticks all boxes for me! Super glowy, gorgeous champagne shade, easy to use, blends out a treat. This being said, my only gripe with this is the packaging. I find it clumsy and difficult to get just the right amount of product out.
Some honourable mentions go to: my new favourite ‘going out-out’ lashes, the Eylure most wanted in ‘I heart this’. Now, I’m a massive fan of lashes and I have around 30+ pairs in my room (wow, I know). I usually pay around £20+ for a pair, and I daren’t work out how much that is I’ve spent over the years. These are a gorgeous, very lightweight pair with a beautiful textured look to them.
Charlotte Tilbury’s brightening youth glow is nice, like the wonder glow (pictured above) but basically just lighter in colour. Not sure about the colour correcting properties. Here’s the much-raved about (which they deserve), Iconic illuminating drops. I have these in the bronzed shade (for my bod) and the ones pictured are the original champagne-like shade. Similar in tone to the Charlotte Tilbury beauty wand, but in dropper form.
My favourites of the month for bronzer, concealer and blush all do their job well. Apart from the concealer (wow), I can’t say I’d repurchase these when they run out because I’m still searching for my Holy Grail products for bronzer and blush.
What I’ve been reading: Reasons to Stay Alive – Matt Haig
A re-read to be honest, what an amazing book.
What I’ve been listening to:
YAS! This is the playlist dreams are made of, I even had my boyfriend listening to it in his car.
What I’ve been getting up to: Crazy Golf, Grandad’s 90th, feeling loved
August was mainly a kind month, filled with people I loved. My amazing Grandad celebrated his 90th birthday, I got drunk, we ate cake. Another visit to Junkyard Golf in Manchester where, no surprise, I won again (despite several cocktails trying to impair my coordination). My kidney has behaved for the whole month and although Slimming World wise, the month hasn’t been what they’d describe as ‘successful’ – it has still been wonderful. I even managed to squeeze in a trip to see my Auntie for a few nights. Wonderful!
How I’ve been feeling: pretty damn good
This is great news, obviously, and I have high hopes for the rest of the year. September is our anniversary and some great friend’s birthdays. I am excited!
How was your August? Let me know!
